I am a native Texan, born in Houston, though I detoured to many different places, including Norway, before I finally made my way back to Texas in 1988 to attend Baylor University in Waco.

From there, I went on to the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center, where I obtained my medical degree, and Children’s Medical Center, where I was well-trained as a resident in general pediatrics.  I worked for several years as a physician in a practice north of Dallas before coming to Decatur to start up my own medical clinic.  I have been here since April of 2005 and have been privileged and blessed to watch and help a new generation of children grow and reach wonderful potential.

Decatur and Wise County are my home and it is my joy to care for this community.  In addition to medical care, I teach physician assistants and nurse practitioner students the art of pediatric medical care at my office, with the goal to encourage a new generation of health caregivers in not only the practical aspects of pediatrics, but also the emotional and personal aspects of that care.  I volunteer on the board of CASA of Wise and Jack County, an organization dedicated to being the voices and advocates of abused and neglected children in the community and through the legal system.  I am a member of the Child Fatality Review Team, which reviews child deaths with the aim of discovering how we as a community can decrease the chances of such tragic deaths from happening again.  I am a member of the Junior Women’s Club, an organization whose main purpose is to raise funds for selected charities, supporting and giving back to the community in which we live.

I am a member of the Texas Medical Association, and a fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics.  I am board certified in Pediatrics through the American Board of Pediatrics.  I strive daily to keep up my education in the latest pediatric practices and trends, to provide the most up-to-date care possible.

I met my future husband Trent on eHarmony in January of 2003, and we were married in 2004.  We have been on many an adventure, not the least of which is the raising of our two boys, Ethan and Joshua, and catering to their wide variety of interests, including football, baseball, and lacrosse.  We as a family also enjoy hiking, camping, skiing, and snowboarding when we can get to the mountains!

  • Do you NEED a pediatrician?

Children are not “small adults”. Children have different diseases than adults, their x-rays sometimes look different than adults, and their “normal” lab values are different than adults.

Children need a physician who has been trained to recognize subtle abnormalities in growth and development.

I remember when I was growing up that my Mama had some pretty important rules and, while at the time I thought they were a lot of bother, in the end they made my life a little better and certainly safer. Click Here for our ‘Mama’s Rules’ ( Office Policies )
